How to Apply

MyShield responds to your future needs by introducing new and improved features. As the only Medisave-approved plan in Singapore that gives free medical cover for your children1 (up to 20 years old at age next birthday), MyShield provides comprehensive protection with great cost savings for your entire family’s healthcare needs.

Unlike other hospital plans, you do not have to worry about your past medical history with MyShield. This hardworking Shield plan comes with a flexible option so that you can have the opportunity to obtain coverage for pre-existing conditions5.

To give you and your family greater peace of mind, the enhanced benefits of MyShield now come at no additional cost. These are:

  • Interim Coverage6 while we process your policy7
  • Letter of Guarantee (LOG)8 now includes Private Hospitals9
  • Increased Annual Claim Limit for Plan 1 and 2
  • Smaller Age-Band for Children on Plan 1 and Plan 2, which means lower11 premiums
     

Enjoy Affordable cover without the financial strain with MyShield

There’s no need to strain your cash reserves. Simply put your Medisave funds to work and enjoy comprehensive cover for yourself and your family with MyShield. Currently, your Medisave Account can be used to pay for premiums up to S$800 per year (for insured persons below 81 years old at age next birthday) and S$1,150 (for insured persons 81 years old and above at age next birthday). Our premiums start as low as S$89.80 per annum, which means less than 30 cents per day14.

    No matter which plan you choose, My Shield is guaranteed renewable regardless of your future health conditions, and provides lifetime cover with no lifetime claim limits.
     

MyShield Plus – Get the extra coverage your need for as little as 10 cents15a day

Now you can enjoy greater flexibility by choosing MyShield Plus Option A to cover your co-insurance and enjoy other benefits, Option B to cover deductible only, or both options to provide medical coverage from the first dollar. Like MyShield, your children will enjoy free coverage16 when both you and your spouse are covered under MyShield Plus Option A Plan 1 or 2.

 



1. Free coverage for children (up to a maximum of 4 children) is provided based on Plan 2 of MyShield, subject to underwriting, up to 20 years of ANB.
5. Provided pre-existing condition is not one of the permanently excluded health conditions under the policy and the insured person has not (for a continuous period of five years since the policy inception or date of reinstatement, whichever is later): experienced symptoms, sought advice or tests from a physician, specialist, or alternative medicine provider (including checkups for pre-existing condition), or required or received treatment or medication
6. Interim cover is only for those with no basic MediShield or only basic MediShield coverage. Both deductible and co-insurance apply regardless of whether applicant has applied for MyShield Plus.  Pro-ration factor would also apply if the insured person has been admitted to a higher ward than what has been applied in the application for MyShield or admitted to a Singapore Private Hospital.  .
7. The interim cover will terminate earlier upon the occurrence of certain events.  Please see the Interim Cover Terms and Conditions (Accidental Medical Reimbursement) for the details.
8. Letter of Guarantee will be issued to hospitals for insured persons who are hospitalised as an inpatient at participating Restructured Hospitals and Private hospitals, provided that the estimated total bill amount exceeds the plan deductible.
9. Private hospitals include Parkway East Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital.
11. Based on comparison between previous MyShield Plan 2 (1 to 30 ANB) and new MyShield Plan 2 (1 to 18 ANB)
12. Co-insurance and/or deductible apply.
13. Based on Moratorium Underwriting and provided applicant is not of occupation class 4 and has not been declined / deferred for other insurance applications.
14. Based on MyShield Plan 3 for age 1  to 18 ANB.
15. Based on lowest premium of S$27.05 per year.
16. Free coverage for children (up to a maximum of 4 children) is provided based on Plan 2 with Option A cover of MyShield Plus, subject to underwriting, up to 20 years of age next birthday.
